Recipe: Shri Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on 26 August 2024 this time. Preparations for Janmashtami begin months in advance in the temples of Mathura Vrindavan. Krishna’s devotees celebrate the festival of Janmashtami with great pomp. On this day, Kanha’s favorite things are made, one of which includes the prasad of Panjiri. Panjiri is offered to Kanha. The fast is broken after eating this Panjiri at 12 o’clock in the night. Let’s know how Panjiri is made and what is added to it.
Easy recipe to make panjiri:
step 1- To make panjiri, you need flour. Take about 2 cups of wheat flour and sieve it. Now heat ghee in a pan. Add about 1 cup of ghee to 2 cups of flour. Ghee adds a lot of flavor to panjiri.
Step 2- When the ghee melts, add flour to it and fry it on low flame while stirring continuously. Fry the flour on medium or even lower flame. On high flame, the flour will start burning and it will not have the same taste that panjiri has.
Step 3- When the flour is roasted, the fragrance will start coming. When the color of the flour becomes light brown, turn off the gas, and understand that the flour is roasted. Now take out the flour from the pan and add 1 more spoon of ghee in the same pan.
Step 4- Add chopped cashews, almonds and melon seeds and fry them till they turn light golden brown. You can add any dry fruits as per your choice in panjiri. Add roasted dry fruits and raisins in panjiri. Mix half a teaspoon of cardamom powder in it.
Step 5- Now if there is any sugar powder then filter it and mix about one and a half cup of sugar powder or the same amount of powdered sugar in the flour. You can make it more or less sweet according to your taste. On the day you want to offer it, add some basil leaves in it.
Step 6- Delicious panjiri is ready for Krishna Janmashtami bhog which you can eat with panchamrit. You can eat this panjiri as is. If leftover, you can mix ghee in it and make laddus and eat it. You can prepare panjiri quickly with this recipe.
